Chris Moore is a native of Charleston, WV and graduated from George Washington HS as a member of the award winning GWHS band program. After high school, Mr. Moore marched with the Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the mellophone section, as well as with the Pride of West Virginia Mountaineer Marching Band of West Virginia University, in Morgantown. He has performed with several jazz ensembles at WVU, as well as with the Chamber Winds, and the Wind Symphony before graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education.
In 2006, Mr. Moore traveled to Europe to teach the International Summer Jazz Academy in Cracow, Poland, under the artistic direction of Curtis Johnson. He has taught high school marching band programs throughout the state of Maryland, including Allegany High School, and Calvert Hall College. He served as the Director of Bands at Easton High School in Easton, MD where he also co-directed and founded the Easton HS Winter Guard. In 2010, Mr. Moore taught the brass section and visual caption with the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Moore has studied saxophone with Curtis Johnson, Jonathan Brink, Dr. David Wright, and with Chief Musician Michael P. Bayes of the United States Navy Band, as well as conducting with Dr. Dana Rothlisberger, Director of Bands at Towson University. In 2010, Mr. Moore performed at the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium at George Mason University for a Masterclass presented by French saxophonist Philippe Geiss.
Mr. Moore was on staff with the Towson University TIGER Marching Band as a Graduate Assistant from 2009-11. He was recently the director of instrumental music at William Penn HS in New Castle, DE where he taught several ensembles, including the symphonic and concert bands, jazz band, marching band, and indoor percussion and guard groups. He is currently building the band program at Valley high school in Smithers, WV, and is working to complete his graduate project and exams towards his Master’s Degree in Music Education from Towson University, in Towson, MD.
